In honour of Children’s Mental Health Week, Blue Mental Health Support is proud to announce the launch of ground-breaking new digital training designed specifically for teachers and school staff.
With the staggering statistic that 1 in 6 children are likely to experience a mental health issue, it has never been more crucial for adults to equip themselves with the tools and knowledge to support the mental well-being of our youth.
In the face of a mental health crisis in children, North East-based Blue Mental Health Education and Training, who provide successful evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in schools and NHS-owned North Tees and Hartlepool Solutions LLP, with a vested interest in improving children’s mental health – have come together to form Blue Mental Health Support. The newly launched digital training aims to empower educators and school personnel with comprehensive resources and strategies to effectively support children’s mental health. From recognising warning signs, to implementing proactive interventions, the course covers a wide range of topics crucial for supporting health and wellbeing within the school environment.
The world is becoming increasingly uncertain and our children are facing unique challenges every day. It is our collective responsibility as adults to become allies who can provide guidance and support to the children in our care. Blue Mental Health Support recognises the vital role that teachers, ancillary staff, parents, and relatives play in the lives of children; Our content is made with regular people in mind and is based on proven methods. It includes real-life examples and hands-on demonstration that come from evidence-based practice, created by therapists with over 70 years’ experience. By working together and fostering a shared level of awareness and understanding, we can create an environment where children feel comfortable turning to any trusted adult for support.
Former Teacher and current Strategic Lead for the service, Daniel Sullivan comments
“Anyone working with children on a regular basis, is best placed to spot the signs of mental health issues. Children trust us to help them, but we aren’t always provided with the training we need to do this as well as we would like – this digital training aims to meet that challenge and we believe has the potential to save a lot of children a lot of struggle in the long run.”
“We are committed to equipping schools with the tools they need to prioritise the mental well-being of their students. Through collaboration and education, we can build a brighter future for our children.”
